Real-time Translation App

 What is Real-time Translation (RTT)?

It is a tech-driven solution that aims at translating content from one language to another without any unnecessary steps which delay the process. This is very convenient when you need to converse with someone who speaks a very different language in their own native accent. Hence, to avoid any misunderstandings or obstacles in smooth polite communication, real-time translation apps are perfect and free of cost solutions. Google has also introduced tools like wireless earphones and pixel buds to allow real-time language translation. Soon this feature will be available for Google Assistant-optimized smartphones and headphones as well.

The Working of Real-time Translation

AI technology has completely transformed how real-time translation innovatively works for its basic purpose. The traditional version of converting the speech into text first and then translating it to other languages has been transformed now. Now the translation tools hear the spoken words and recognize them through the help of sound waves and then those specific portions are linked with their corresponding translations. This works on the design of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning through pattern-matching software. Moreover, neural networks and deep learning programs aid in deciphering what is being spoken and understood in terms of the context of words and language. The AI access tools also have access to a large database containing meanings of different words, phrases, sentences, and clauses that have already been used by millions of other documents.

Development of Real-time Translation in existing Hardware

Smartphone software like Alexa, Cortana, and Siri have already been designed to understand the commands of a person in a single language, however, this is now being converted into other languages as well.

  • Google’s Pixel earbuds in combination with Android devices can translate up to 40 languages. Google Translate and Word Lens can also translate words into pictures now.

  • iTranslate and Bragi suggested Dash Pro which translates to 40 languages too.

  • Apple’s Siri will soon translate between Mandarin Chinese, U.S. English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German.

  • Waverly Labs' pilot system comprises two earpieces that are shared by two people who speak different languages.

  • Microsoft is even trying to incorporate real-time translation in its previous applications like Skype Meeting Broadcast, Skype for Business, live PowerPoint translation, etc.
